The University of Colorado School of Medicine is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus, one of the nation’s newest health care campuses. Innovative architecture fosters collaboration among students, researchers and clinicians and extends to two world-class campus hospitals: UCHealth and Children’s Hospital Colorado.

The mission of the University of Colorado School of Medicine is to provide Colorado, the nation and the world with programs of excellence in:

Education – through the design, implementation and evaluation of educational programs for medical students, allied health students, graduate students, residents and fellows, practicing health professionals and the public-at-large;

Research – through the development of new knowledge in the basic and clinical sciences, as well as in public and community health, health policy and health sciences education;

Clinical care – through state-of-the-art clinical programs which reflect the unique educational and scholarly environment of the University, as well as the needs of the patients and communities it serves; and

Community collaborations – by forming partnerships with the broader community, learning from the experiences of community members and sharing the School’s expertise and knowledge, in order to promote healthier and more resilient communities, address the social, environmental and economic determinants of health, and advocate for health equity.

The medical campus is the largest academic-based health care provider in the Rocky Mountains, at the forefront of transformative education, science, medicine and health care. Its two nationally ranked hospitals see more than 2 million patients each year.

The campus services more than 4,500 students, in more than 40 highly rated degree programs across six schools and colleges, supported by $692 million in research awards in fiscal year 2022 – creating an overall economic impact to the state of Colorado of $8.5 billion. The innovative nature of the campus is responsible for over 1,300 patent applications and 53 new companies that stemmed from campus research since 2002.

CU's Anschutz Medical Campus is located in Aurora, just nine miles east of downtown Denver. Aurora is Colorado’s 3rd largest city, and this thriving city routinely ranks highly among cities its size. Recognized as one of the best communities for young people, Aurora offers reasonable rent and an extensive public transportation system.
