Job Summary: |
We have an exceptional opportunity for an individual to join our team as a Program Manager for our cleaning and sterilization lab. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of our lab, with a focus on infection control and quality standards. By supervising and assisting staff, you will contribute to maintaining a safe and sanitized environment while adhering to established procedures and techniques. Key Responsibilities: Sterilization Program Operations, Supervision, and Workflow Management (60%)
Manages the daily operations of the Central Sterilization and Distribution unit to ensure instruments, cassettes, equipment, and related materials are cleaned, decontaminated, sterilized, assembled, tracked, and distributed in accordance with established infection control standards, clinic guidelines, OSHA requirements, and School of Dental Medicine procedures. Evaluates existing sterilization and distribution workflows, identifies operational or compliance gaps, and implements process improvements to support safe, efficient, and consistent unit operations. Develops, adjusts, and implements approved workflows, procedures, and operating in collaboration with the Health Care Manager to support unit needs, changes in equipment, changes in instrumentation, clinic demand, quality-control findings, or updated compliance expectations.
Staff Development, Support, and Training (30%)
Develops, implements, and maintains standardized training practices for sterilization and distribution staff to ensure consistent understanding of procedures, equipment use, infection control standards, personal protective equipment requirements, cassette assembly, quality checks, and documentation expectations. Provides direct training, coaching, and guidance to staff regarding proper sterilization procedures, equipment maintenance, instrument handling, cassette preparation, distribution processes, quality-control requirements, and compliance expectations. Evaluates staff competency and identifies training needs based on observed performance, quality-control findings, workflow issues, equipment changes, procedure updates, or compliance requirements.
Quality Control, Compliance Monitoring, and Process Improvement (10%)
Analyzes sterilization records, biological monitoring results, washer and sterilizer verification tests, equipment documentation, cassette/instrument tracking records, and other quality-control data to identify trends, gaps, errors, or compliance concerns. Updates to workflows, procedures, documentation practices, training expectations, or quality-control processes based on quality findings, operational needs, compliance requirements, in collaboration with the Health Care Manager.

Qualifications: |
Minimum Qualifications:
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Certification either as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or as a Sterile Processing and Distribution (SPD) Technician from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). Experience working in a high-volume sterilization area. Experience establishing, monitoring, ordering, organizing and maintaining dental and clinical inventory supplies and equipment. Experience working with faculty, staff and students in a higher education and/or hospital setting. Supervision or team lead experience.
Conditions of Employment:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. We are unable to provide work visa sponsorship or employment authorization for this position now or in the future. Must be willing and able to work various shifts if an employee is out. Must be willing and able to stand for long periods of time and walk to distribute carts to dispensaries. Must be willing and able to reach overhead, often lifting items up and down 1-10 lbs. Must be willing and able to lift 10 to 25 lbs on a regular/daily basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Knowledge of dental/medical terminology Knowledge of dental/medical materials, tools, instruments and equipment Knowledge of proper use and technique of dental tools and instruments Knowledge of proper sterilization and aseptic processes, procedures, requirements, tools and equipment Ability to work with computer-based inventory and tracking databases, such as AxiUm Ability to work as a member of a team, as well as the ability to work independently and stay on task with little to no supervision. Must have dental terminology and know dental instrumentation of all areas of dentistry. Needs to know instrumentation to create cassettes for each department and procedure.

Anticipated Pay Range: |
The starting salary range for this position has been established as $85,068-113,992.00. The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
