Job Description

The Automation Engineer will serve under the newly established Advanced Manufacturing group at Amcor Flexibles North America (AFNA) division. The automation engineer will report to the Director of Advanced Manufacturing and will be the mechanical design focal for the team for deploying automation technologies/solutions that will help the business achieve its operational objectives related to safety, quality, waste, and operational efficiency across AFNA's network of facilities. This motivated individual will plan and work through the technology/project life cycle which includes investigations, POC, pilots, RFQs, implementation, and sustainability. An understanding and experience in developing mechanical designs to implement automation solutions is preferred.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Aligns with and actively supports Amcor values by putting safety first in any situation . Serves as a role model to others by ensuring that all project work is completed in accordance with our safety policies.
  • Participates/collaborates with Project Teams to develop and implement end to end solutions for integrating automation on a plant/assembly line level.
  • Responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and implementing custom mechanical design solutions that are incorporated within the automation solutions and machine interfaces across all automation projects.
  • Responsible for creating accurate 2D plant drawings across all plants by using the latest 3D scanning technology in order to accurately implement automation.
  • Create 3D part/assembly models and details drawings for manufacture per design best practices using 3D CAD.
  • Manage the scope of work for mechanical design on customized projects, including planning, supervising project work, and verifying designs to ensure effective performance of the work
  • Collaborates with cross functional project teams to identify system requirements and compiles specifications to enable automation solutions.
  • Supports fabrication, testing, and installation activities for automation projects to ensure the succuss of the project.
  • Partners with the Advance Manufacturing Core Industrial Engineering team to develop plant transformation plans for Brownfield and Greenfield sites.

  • Inherent responsibility to train and mentor peers when appropriate.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Electrical, Mechanical, CS&E, Controls/Automation Engineering or related technical field
  • 3 - 6 years' experience
  • 30% travel requirement
