JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Cardinale Lab in the Department Ecosystem Science and Management in the College of Agricultural Sciences is looking for a Research Technologist on a project that is looking at how land use across the United States impacts biodiversity. The candidate will perform computer-based GIS analyses in the lab, as well as assist on greenhouse and field-based studies.

Primary tasks include:

  • Running spatial analyses that characterize land use using the software program ArcGIS;

  • Downloading and collating data from different sources into spreadsheets using the software program Microsoft Excel;

  • Performing Quality Analyses and Quality Control (QAQC) of various data to ensure accuracy, and graphing data to perform exploratory analyses;

  • Assisting graduate students with ongoing greenhouse and field-based studies that examine how biodiversity is related to land use.

Specific duties include the following:

  • Conduct research projects or experiments related to life science areas of study; ensure protocol adherence; review progress and evaluate results

  • Execute and develop data collection procedures; record, correlate, and analyze data; prepare analysis summaries

  • Make recommendations for the use of data collection, management, and visualization software

  • Author papers, proposals, presentations and reports in order to disseminate findings to the larger research community

This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire with good possibility of refunding.

Education and Experience:

Minimum requirements for this position include a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $50,500.00
