Responsibilities

Texoma Medical Center, a 414-bed acute care facility has been providing quality health care to the residents of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1965. POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible to plan, organize, implement and evaluate Therapeutic Recreation and leisure programs to psychiatric patients, including group
leisure time and physical education activities, which are designed to maximize the social, physical, cognitive and emotional functioning of patients so that a
desirable quality of leisure life can be attained.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of therapeutic recreation, physical education, dance movement, music
    therapy or related field.
  • Requires at least one (1) year of experience providing instruction in a recreational program; or in a closely related
    work; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Previous experience in behavioral
    healthcare strongly preferred.
  • Certification or Licensure as a Recreational, Occupational, Music, Art, or Yoga Therapist required. BLS (Basic Life
    Support) Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines must be completed during new hire
    orientation prior to working in a clinical setting. Handle with Care, and Verbal De-Escalation training must be
    completed during new hire orientation and annually prior to working in a clinical setting. Additional training to be
    completed with respective timeline.
  • Demonstrate a caring, friendly, and professional demeanor with the ability to encourage and appropriately support
    others. Demonstrate knowledge of and exhibit skill in evaluating and treating adolescent, adult, and geriatric persons
    with psychosocial and cognitive problems. Must be able to communicate and work effectively with people of differing
    educational and cultural backgrounds. Must be organized and able to prioritize activities. Must be cognizant of ageappropriate activities. Practices teamwork.
