About This Role
The Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University invites applications for a clinical, term appointment as Large Animal Emergency Clinician (LAEC). The LAEC provides after-hour emergency services and teaching principally for horses but will on occasion consult for and assist with surgeries in cattle, small ruminants, and camelids. Candidates must hold a DVM degree or equivalent and have completed a Large Animal surgical residency. Candidates eligible for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons are preferred and will be provided study time for examination preparation when appropriate. The LAEC will work with senior faculty, house officers and technical staff. The Large Animal Hospital at KSU has two operating rooms, and after-hours support from anesthesia and radiology services. Senior faculty from Equine and Livestock Services will provide consultation and back-up assistance to the LAEC. The LAEC will be responsible for supervising the treatment of after hour medical and surgical emergencies patients that present to the VHC large animal clinic. The distribution of effort for the LAEC will be predominately clinical service with the opportunity to contribute to lecture and laboratory teaching. Worksite Option This position is on-site.
