Job Description

The University of Missouri invites applications for a non-tenure track teaching faculty position in nutrition and dietetics at all ranks - Assistant Teaching, Associate Teaching or Teaching Professor. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position for the directorship of the Accelerated Coordinated Master's Program in Dietetics (CP).

Responsibilities have three areas of focus: teaching, administrative and service

Responsibilities:

Teaching

  • Assist in the continued improvement of the CP
  • Develop and provide quality instruction in courses in nutrition and related topics. The volume of teaching must be in line with the workload policies of the Food, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences (FNES) division.
  • Instruct courses predominantly in-person with learners in-seat. Experience in or capacity for teaching medical nutrition therapy preferred.
  • Assess student competency-based learning and administer formative and summative assessments
  • Engage in undergraduate academic advising with students and supporting students' personal and professional development
  • Engage in scholarly work and/or professional development activities to ensure the incumbent remains current and advances the practice of dietetics

Administrative

Direct and administer the CP.

  • Coordinate and implement the selection process for student cohorts.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to effectively manage and improve the CP, including program disciplinary action
  • Assist with the coordination and management of supervised experiential learning sites.
  • Serve as the CP spokesperson within the University of Missouri system/structure and the wider community

Manage the nutrition and foods degree within the University of Missouri system/structure. This includes both the dietetics track and its subsequent graduate year and the non-dietetics track. This position will:

  • Organize and conduct dietetics faculty meetings
  • Follow organizational rules for program updates and changes within the University of Missouri system/structure, implementing workload policies for dietetics faculty (NTT, adjunct, and preceptor/clinical instructor)
  • Communicating needs to the department and division chair.
  • Serve as advisor to graduate CP students.

Maintain dietetics program's accreditation as outlined by the accreditation council for education in nutrition and dietetics (ACEND) including, but not limited to:

  • Ensure year-round coverage of director responsibilities (ACEND requirement)
  • Prepare reports, pay fees, and respond in a timely fashion to requests for program updates

Timely submission of documents to the commission on dietetics registration (CDR) at the completion of the CP

Efficiently maintain program documents for all aforementioned entities

Service

  • Participate in faculty governance, including attending meetings - full faculty, division, department, and committee - and fulfilling attendant responsibilities
  • Actively participate in student recruitment
  • Participate in local, state, or national professional organizations, including but not limited to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics national and state affiliate.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualification: The successful candidate must be actively credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with a Master's degree and three years of professional experience.

Candidates will be evaluated on: Highest degree earned. Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and good judgement. A demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with others. Evidence of effective skills in conflict resolution and consensus-building. Familiarity with collecting and using data to drive decision-making. Experience with goal setting, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Management/supervisory experience and a willingness to travel locally, regionally and nationally.
