JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library is seeking 1- 4 customer service-oriented individuals to assist at the circulation desk starting in the Fall 2024 semester, with the ability to continue through the Spring 2025 semester and beyond. Successful applicants will benefit from our comprehensive training program, which supports new staff members in research, customer service, and library policies and practices.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will provide comprehensive circulation services at our busy service desk, assist users in locating library materials and resources, and answer both basic and in-depth reference and research questions. You will also provide basic assistance with technology and computing, open and close the library, assist with unit projects, and help maintain the library's collections and spaces. Dependability and punctuality are essential, as you will be expected to arrive promptly when assigned to work.

Work Schedule:

This part-time position typically requires 10-12 hours per week. Candidates must be willing to work a combination of evening, weekend, and day hours, with the option to take extra shifts if/when available.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service, diversity, equity, respect, and inclusion. The ideal candidate will be someone who can learn rapidly and follow directions and library procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a public service setting and fluency with computers and computing applications. Additionally, experience in library research, a facility with information technology, and an undergraduate degree or equivalent knowledge in architecture, landscape architecture, art history, or a closely related design field are highly desirable.
