Multimodal Transportation Planning Project Manager

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's growing Raleigh, NC team is looking for a multimodal transportation planner or engineer to join us as a Transportation Project Manager. As a member of the VHB NC Planning and Project Development Team, the selected candidate will lead the development of multimodal transportation plans and projects. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of transportation planning principles, multimodal design practices, and project oversight experience. The candidate will primarily work with the Raleigh, NC VHB office, but will support work across the state and region.

Responsibilities

Work with an interdisciplinary team to conduct public engagement and develop solutions for all modes of transportation.
• Oversee other planners and engineers in the development of reports, presentations and other deliverables.
• Apply deep understanding of multimodal planning and analysis to transportation design and systems.
• Mentor junior team members in transportation planning principles and project development.
• Document and communicate findings from expert field observations with clients and public stakeholders.

Skills and Attributes

• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary projects and teams
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to apply data, analyses methods, and public engagement to transportation planning projects
• Enthusiasm for growing business opportunities and presenting at conferences
• Strong organizational skills with managing tasks, budgets and project schedules

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Planning, Public Policy, Civil Engineering, Public Health or related field
• Masters degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, Public Health or related field is preferred, but not required
• 5-8+ years of experience in transportation planning or engineering
• 8-11+ years of experience in transportation planning or engineering preferred
• PE licensure or AICP certification is preferred
