The primary duties of the Sr. Environmental/Civil Engineer are to conduct, supervise or direct a multitude of waste and remediation engineering projects.

In this role, we'll count on you to:



  • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, typically involving a large project staff.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures.
  • Work on diverse remedial engineering projects that with a wide range of contaminants (VOCs/SVOCs/metals/PCBs/NAPL) in all types of media (soil/groundwater/sediment/bedrock/abandoned mines, etc.) utilizing innovative remedial technologies (P&T/removal/containment/dredging/ISS/chemical oxidation/bioremediation/thermal remediation/passive water treatment/capping).
  • Lead a team of staff engineers in preparation of design deliverables including strategic planning, engineering design reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and construction schedules with support from HDR's remediation practice leads.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and negotiate remedial actions.
  • Will also serve as a consultant and supervise remedial construction management projects as needed.
  • Work independently on technical tasks involving data analysis, interpreting results, and preparing technical reports, plans and specifications.
  • Delegate and supervise junior engineers on remediation design components and staff of professionals and technicians on remedial investigations
  • Train and mentor personnel as established by strategic plans.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience developing design plans, specifications, and reports for CERCLA remedies
  • Proven leadership and Project Management skills required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Teams, OneNote, etc.). Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Must be detail-oriented and a team player with great communication, technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in proposal development.
  • Demonstrated experience in project development and execution in the Public and Private sectors.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in remedial investigation, design and implementation of remedial actions, as well as some project management experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (including Access, Excel, Word)
  • Excellent communication skills are essential
  • Experience with soil and groundwater remedial technologies is preferred
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Colorado: $119,966.00 - $171,380.00
