For Ph.D. only candidates: Assistant:$80,000-$135,000, Associate: $120,000-$165,000, Full: $185,000-$260,000

For M.D. or D.O or M.D./D.O and Ph.D.: Assistant: $170,000 - $230,000, Associate -$200,000 - $260,000, Full - $230,000 - $330,000.

This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation plan

Position description

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine is recruiting for three full-time faculty members in either of the Clinical X, Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) or In Residence series at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank in Infectious Diseases. Faculty in the Clinical X series are expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are expected to engage in teaching, professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative activities and University/public service. Faculty in the In Residence series are expected to engage in teaching, independent research and creative work, demonstrate professional competence and activity, and provide University and public service.

The successful candidate interested in the Clinical X or HSCP series should demonstrate a strong commitment to quality patient care, medical education and research in the area of Infectious Diseases. They will have training in academic pursuits, be dedicated to continued scholarship, and bring strong interpersonal skills and a history of collaborating across a broad range of medical specialties. The Clinical X series will contain all of the above duties, but will have a larger focus on independent research than the HSCP series.

For the In Residence series, the successful candidate must also have a promising program of research in the area of Infectious Diseases. The candidate will not only demonstrate excellence in this research area but also be able to teach courses in Infectious Diseases to medical students, residents, and fellows. They need to define and lead research projects, develop and write advanced experimental protocols, prepare, organize and communicate research results through publication and presentations, participate in appropriate professional societies and educational organizations, including taking a leadership role in organizations, participate in service on research review boards.

All candidates will be expected to provide service to department, school and campus committees. They must have the ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment and the ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.

Requirements for M.D. or D.O. or M.D./Ph.D. applicants:



  • Applicants must have a M.D. or D.O. or M.D./Ph.D.
  • Must be board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
  • Must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of California
  • Must have experience teaching and supervising medical students, residents and fellows.


Requirements for Ph.D. only applicants:



  • Three years of productive postdoctoral fellowship or equivalent experience is required.
