Additional Job Description: West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine, Department of Pathology, Anatomy & Laboratory Medicine (PALM) seeks an academically oriented Surgical/Cytopathologist open-rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) in the clinician-track to meet the needs of our expanding Health System. This is an opportunity to practice cytopathology exclusively or in conjunction with another surgical pathology sub-specialty or general pathology. Applicants with expertise in head and neck pathology, genitourinary pathology, lung pathology, pediatric pathology and/ or other specialties are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. Duties: The successful candidate will join our existing faculty in the Section of Cytopathology. Cytopathologists are supported by Telecytology systems used for rapid on-site evaluations (ROSE). Active involvement in teaching our medical students, residents, and cytopathology fellows is required. There is tremendous potential for candidates with a record of scholarly productivity to collaborate with faculty across the WVU campuses. Additional responsibilities and leadership roles will be considered based on a candidate's interests, skills, and experience. Qualifications: Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree or foreign equivalent, be board certified/eligible in AP or AP/CP and Cytopathology Candidates must be eligible to obtain a state medical license at the time of employment. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor ranks, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. About the Department: WVU PALM is a growing department consisting of faculty in AP, CP, Anatomical Sciences and Medical Laboratory Sciences. Clinical AP services are supported by advanced Digital Pathology and Telepathology systems, and state-of-the-art ancillary testing (IHC, cytogenetics, FISH, NGS) is performed onsite. Faculty research activities are supported by the PALM Tissue Bank, Research Histology Lab, Brain Bank and the WVU Development Laboratory.
