Job Description

At IPS, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people by solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. We are looking for a dedicated Senior Process Automation Engineer to join our talented team at our office located in Emeryville, California.

In this role, you will provide the IPS project team with technical leadership, automation expertise, and instrumentation support for the design, engineering, construction, and qualification of Pharmaceutical and Biotech related projects.

Position Responsibilities

Provide Automation engineering support in the following:

Leadership

  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise by developing department standards and improving existing work practices.
  • Manage and delegate tasks to meet project scope, schedule, and deadlines.
  • Progressive ability and aptitude to develop and mentor junior staff members.

Conceptual Design

  • Assist clients in strategic evaluations to develop concepts supported by engineering studies for expanding, improving, or automating existing facilities.
  • Working with clients, other IPS disciplines, and vendors to develop complete Automation solutions.
  • Consulting on the proper adoption of the ISA S95 levels to meet the client's needs now and in the future.

Detailed Design

  • Actively collaborate with the process design and project teams to support the execution of successful project studies.
  • Develop the design and specifications for DCS, PLC, and SCADA-based process control systems for IPS clients and projects.
  • Perform automation-related job functions as assigned, including, I/O lists, Instrumentation lists, and the specification of instrumentation and control element.

Construction Assistance

  • Support IQ/OQ development and participate in systems analysis, validation, and verification.
  • Identify, qualify, and collaborate with third-party system integrators as necessary to support project and company business objectives.
  • Work with end users and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to coordinate the application of automation products.

The salary offered for this role is between $121,000 - $182,160, but actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set and education.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • 10+ years of diversified engineering experience with in-depth knowledge of industry requirements and applications within the Process Automation market.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering - ME/EE//ChemE/Automation/Manufacturing - or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of experience with industrial process control system including DCS, PLC, and SCADA-based systems.
  • 4+ years of experience with pharmaceutical process instrumentation.
  • Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting.
  • Experience with the development of control system network architectures.
  • Experienced with ISA standards and the interpretation of P&I drawings.
  • Experience with the development of cGMP and GAMP automation lifecycle documents.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and presence to deal effectively with senior-level contacts.
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active participation in relevant professional associations.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
