Decypher is seeking Remote Medical Coding Auditors to join us in our mission supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA). Core Duties:



  • Perform initial quality reviews (IQRs) for all new coders and will provide coders with timely feedback to ensure coders are ready for coding independently.
  • Utilize the Military Health System (MHS) Genesis systems to remotely access patient records and Review Outpatient (OP), OP Specialty, Emergency Department, Observation, Rounds, Same Day Surgery, and/or Inpatient accounts.
  • Conduct monthly quality audits on all coders to ensure coding accuracy is between 97%-100%.
  • Provide daily updates to include auditing spreadsheet and written report findings to management and coders as necessary.
  • Make recommendations for new coders, or when new coders should be released to code, education or training, or removal of coders from project.
  • Provide initial and ongoing education and training on system coding encounters workflow process and productivity assessments.
  • May participate in recruiting process, and other aspects of competency to ensure a successful program.

  • Associate's degree or higher in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a biological science OR
  • University certificate in medical coding OR
  • Completion of a medical training program beyond apprentice level (e.g., medical technicians, hospital corpsmen, medical service specialists, or hospital training) offered by the Armed Forces or U.S. Maritime Service under professional medical supervision


Certifications:

ONE of the following recognized professional coding certifications:



  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
  • Certified Coding Specialist - Physician (CCS-P)


AND ONE of the following recognized institutional coding



  • certifications: Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Registered Health Information Technician
  • (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding
  • Specialist (CCS AND ONE of the following auditing certifications:


AND the following auditing certifications:



  • Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA)
  • Certified Evaluation and Management Auditor (CEMA)


Experience:



  • Five years medical coding experience (out-patient and inpatient)
  • MHS Genesis system medical coding experience
  • One year of medical coding auditor experience
