As a Senior Structural Designer in our Overland Park, KS office, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

Here's why we need you:

In this role, you will be responsible for layout and detailing of structural steel and foundations for buildings, equipment, and distribution systems. Work scope includes supporting project from concept through construction. Additional details on responsibilities:

    Prepare detail construction drawings of reinforced concrete structures and foundations, steel supports, steel buildings and other steel structures.
  • Produce 3D models with 2D drawing deliverables.
  • Design and draft structural elements and details.
  • Complete and review design drawings within scope, budget and schedule.
  • Along with Engineer develop standard details and standard work practices.
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.

Project work encompasses design and layout of concrete foundations and steel structures for new and existing facilities. Project types include central energy plants, manufacturing facilities, food processing facilities, universities, and hospitals. AEI structural department is located in our Overland Park office and supports all 20 offices across the country.

Expertise of our most successful Senior Structural Designer:

  • Technical or Associate Degree from an accredited technical institution or college.
  • Ability to collaborate with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues.
  • Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and in the current version of REVIT and/or AutoCAD. Knowledge of Plant 3D is preferred, though not required. Navisworks experience is also preferred, though not required.
  • Experience in interpreting design criteria and developing into specific layouts and design.
  • Understanding of applicable design codes and specification requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
