Position Description:
Perform concrete placement, finishing, patching, and repair.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Fully comprehend scopes of work per plans and specifications to complete job assignment.
  • Perform concrete placement, finishing, patching, and repair.
  • Set and check forms that hold concrete to visually confirm proper construct for concrete placement and finishing.
  • Place, spread, level, consolidate, and smooth concrete.
  • Perform work using concrete pump, bucket, rake, vibrator, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.
  • Ensure proper grade, placement, and finish of concrete using levels and laser levels.
  • Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
  • Mix bagged concrete, grout, and repair materials per manufacturer instructions.
  • Finish concrete using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools to chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections.
  • Prepare existing surfaces to accept repair materials.
  • Apply curing, hardening, and sealing compounds and materials to concrete surface.
  • Embed and install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills, and other fixtures into freshly poured concrete as required.
  • Ensure Trade employees, subcontractors, and vendors to comply with Turner standards, safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security.
  • Display high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.
  • Fully understand work instructions, project signage, and safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers and prepare and inspect tools prior use to ensure safe and working condition.
  • Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans, follow safety expectations for operation of equipment and tools, select appropriate equipment for performing work, adhere to safety protocols to perform work, and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
  • Ensure security of equipment and work area while conducting operations.
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate problems and issues to supervisor for immediate resolution.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months of general construction industry experience
  • Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction
  • Basic arithmetic, basic geometry, and knowledge and application to general concrete skills
  • Ability to take direction, follow instructions, and work with supervision
  • Clear communication skills
  • Ability to apply active listening skills, ask clarifying questions, and follow through on assignments
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Ability to travel and accommodate night and weekend work as needed

Frequently: Lifting/lowering/carrying weights 25-50 lbs., climbing, crawling, and working on heights. Occasionally: Sitting, reaching above shoulder height, and confined space hazards.
