Tufts University: School of Arts & Sciences: Biology Location Medford, MA Open Date Oct 03, 2024 Description The Department of Biology at Tufts University seeks a part-time, non-tenure-track faculty member to teach one section of an introductory course (Bio 14 - Organisms and Populations) in the spring of 2025 (mid Jan-mid May). The lecturer's responsibilities will be to teach one of 2 course sections using the same already-designed lecture and assessment plan as the other section (usual sectional enrollment ~150-200 students; counts as 1 course for compensation purposes). Bio 14 is taught as an integrative course, highlighting linkages between evolution, ecology, and physiology. The associated laboratory portion of the course is taught separately and not part of the teaching responsibilities. The course will be held Tues-Thurs 9:00-10:15 AM. The Bio14 course is supported by a staff course coordinator, a graduate TA, and multiple undergraduate learning assistants. There is the option to co-teach a 1 hour per week learning-assistant training session for additional compensation (0.33 course equivalent). Qualifications Candidates should have a Ph.D. and teaching experience in a relevant topic area. Experience teaching in introductory biology courses, evidence of teaching success, and an invested interest in developing inclusive classroom spaces that promote success of all students will be part of the hiring criteria.
