The Patent Research Manager plays a crucial role in the IP Research business, acting as the primary liaison between the research community and clients. This role is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of research studies, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and providing technical and legal expertise in patent-related matters.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities and deliverables

    Assist in product recommendations by providing insights and technical expertise.
  • Create, launch, and manage RWS studies within AOP Connect, ensuring alignment with client expectations and study objectives.
  • Review and assess the accuracy and relevance of researcher-submitted responses, providing feedback and guidance as needed.
  • Present study findings to clients in a clear and professional manner during client status calls.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to researchers, leveraging your expertise in patents and related technical fields.
  • Oversee the closure of studies, including the preparation of final reports and the administration of researcher rewards.
  • Collaborate closely with other study managers and researchers to ensure the successful execution of research projects.
  • Maintain a keen eye for detail to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all deliverables.
  • Successful creation, launch, and management of RWS studies in AOP Connect.
  • Timely and accurate review of researcher-submitted responses.
  • Clear and concise presentation of study results to clients during status calls.
  • Effective technical guidance provided to researchers to ensure the accuracy and quality of research.

Skills & Experience

  • Engineering degree with expertise in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or chemical engineering.
  • Law degree with 7+ years of experience in patent law, including experience in patent search and/or patent examination. Preferably a former patent examiner.
  • Strong experience in patent searches and the ability to review various patents and technical/scientific literature.
  • Excellent oral presentation and technical writing skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to work productively and efficiently with other team members, including study managers and researchers.

Base Pay

$110,000 - $120,000 / year

Actual rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to: position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. Total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other perks, as outlined in any formal offer made.
