About the School of City & Regional Planning at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The School of City and Regional Planning (SCaRP) is a global leader in fostering sustainable, resilient, and just communities, and is consistently ranked within the top ten planning schools in North America by Planetizen. The school's current and emeritus faculty include the previous editors of the Journal of Planning Education and Research, the Journal of Planning Literature, and the Journal of American Planning Association; the former chief planning officials of the City of Atlanta and the Georgia Regional Transportation Agency; three former presidents of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning; and six Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners. The School of City & Regional Planning (SCaRP) (https://planning.gatech.edu/) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in City & Regional Planning. Applicants will be considered at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with an expected start date of August 2025. We seek applications from community-engaged scholars whose research speaks to questions of civic engagement, social and racial justice, participatory methods, collaborative planning, and the role of technology in communities. We hope to find a colleague who can also meaningfully contribute to the success of a new undergraduate major that SCaRP plans to launch in the near future. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

A doctoral degree in planning or a related field is required.

Candidates with a promising scholarly trajectory and teaching experience are preferred. The ability to adopt teaching strategies that support the learning and success of all students and promote a welcoming educational/work environment is especially preferred.
