Performs all general clerical duties required by the specific nursing unit as well as maintaining the medical records in compliance with hospital policy. The secretary is responsible for maintaining an effective flow of communication, internal and external, to the nursing unit. The secretary assists the charge nurse in maintaining the budget for the unit's supply and expense line by carefully monitoring the use of supplies on the nursing units and ordering judiciously. Performs typing as needed within the SNF. Is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing of the skilled nursing facility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school graduate or equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Completion of a nurse'saidtraining and competency program and have passed a required competency test approved by the WV State Health Department. (Per Federal Long Term Care Regulation 2. Medical Terminology course. EXPERIENCE: 1. Previous clerical or secretarial position with the two years of typing preferred. 2. Previous experience with EPIC software. Demonstrates ability to communicate with physicians, departments, hospitals, the entire health care team; patients and families to receive and relay appropriate information in a timely, accurate and professional fashion.

Must have the ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions with frequentinterruptions, andmust be capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis. 8. Must have the ability to make sound judgmentsand alsobe able to collaborate with other multi-disciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion. 9. Must have the ability to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures. 10. Must have strong communication skills, written and verbal. 11. Must have basic math skills. 12. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts.
