JOB TYPE Classification: Nonexempt Supervises Positions: No JOB SUMMARY Performs technical procedures and functions for electro diagnostics. Observes cardiac monitors and identifies, calculates, interprets, and communicates information regarding cardiac rhythms. Applies and discontinues telemetry services as instructed. Enters edits, and other paperwork as applicable to the department. Collaboration: Participates in the teaching and counseling of patients and their support system.
Communication and Documentation: Communicates individualized plan of care and patient's progress toward goals to all members of the care team, including the patient and his/her chosen support system.
Professional Accountability/Evidence Based Practice: Maintain clinical and professional competencies according to department policies.
Quality Improvement: Intervenes when standards of care are not met.
Teamwork: Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members/internal customers.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or GED Required. Experience: Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: N/A Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Medical terminology and CPR-basic. Ability to operate electronic and computer-based equipment. Ability to recognize technical inferior EKG and take corrective action as appropriate. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of cardiac monitor interpretation, skills, and abilities. Must practice appropriate communication skills and sensitivity to patient's needs. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, principles of growth and development over the life span and to accommodate cultural diversity among the patients being served. Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient's status, to identify each patient's population specific or behavioral needs and provide the care as needed. Must be able to effectively teach others on cardiac rhythms. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical Demand Code: 17A, Medical Technician/Other Techs Work Function/Activity: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand The job requires constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
