The Long Term Memory Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Virginia invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position. The position will involve working on a project funded by the National Institutes of Health, the goal of which is to define the properties of the retrieval state, a neural brain state that supports accessing of stored information and engagement in which influences downstream processing and behavior. The postdoctoral researcher will be primarily responsible for developing and analyzing scalp electroencephalographic (EEG) research studies, will manage data collection for these studies, including management of graduate students, a research coordinator, and/or undergraduate students, and will also have a central role in writing and dissemination of these studies. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have received their PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a closely related field by the appointment start date. Candidates must have experience conducting neural research on memory, attention, or related cognitive processes. Experience working with scalp EEG and/or functional magnetic resonance imaging data collection and analysis methods, as well as human subjects data collection, is preferred. The candidate must also have strong leadership and project management skills to manage multiple projects at once. They are expected to maintain a safe lab culture, write research papers and grants, and help mentor undergraduates and graduate students in the laboratory.
