Overview

We are looking for our next Senior Media Consultant to join our team. In this position you can expect the following:

Compensation

Base salary + uncapped commission. Your base pay will be between $22,000-$30,000 based on experience with uncapped commission. High earners are expected to make $100k+.

The Senior Media Consultant will be responsible for selling results-oriented advertising and marketing solutions to regionaland local clients. This will include both Agency clients and Local Direct. This position will represent 2 broadcast and 34 cable networks including ABC, CBS, Food Network, ESPN, Fox News Channel, HGTV, TBS and TNT, among others, in addition to a robust Digital platform and The Central Oregon Visitors Network. This position will be responsible for negotiating superior shares of transactional business using, but not limited to, Comscore. The individual in this position will possess a deep understanding of audience measurement across Zolo's platforms as well as those of Zolo's broadcast competitors. New business development will be a KEY component of this position's responsibility using a client focused consultative sales process.

The salary listed for this position is encompassing of both the base salary, as well as what one might expect to earn when meeting established sales quotas. The actual offer amount will carefully consider multiple factors, such as relevant skills, qualifications, work experience, location and/or competencies that align with the specified role. Responsibilities

    Generate revenue and meet monthly sales goals through proven, effective sales techniques, primarily in the Bend DMA but could include market visits to Portland, Eugene, or Medford. This includes working with transactional agencies to ensure that their representatives are well versed on all our products and ratings stories as well as knowledge of our Designated Market Area. Matching the client with various advertising and marketing opportunities available through Central Oregon Daily News. This position focuses primarily on existing Direct and NEW Direct business.
  • Creating strategies that represent overall solutions to present to the client.
  • Processing of weekly pre-empts for regional/national clients and advising agencies of make-good offers.
  • Working cooperatively with other departments to represent the interests of advertisers without compromising core company values.
  • Prospect new business opportunities through cold calling, networking and referrals. Develop new business through selling commercial advertising time and digital strategies by reaching out to regional/local businesses. Develop strategies, tactics, and processes for effective sales lead generation, sales follow-through, customer relationship management, and client retention.
  • Assist management in the creation and distribution of rate cards, sales materials, sports packages, etc.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years of professional work experience.
  • 3+ years of sales experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and insurance.

Other Qualifications

  • A minimum of ten years of experience in broadcast and/or cable media sales with a minimum of five years of transactional sales experience is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of television ratings methodologies, demographics, quantitative and qualitative audience measurement techniques and interpretation of that data to help grow revenue among transactionally negotiated advertising sales.
  • A minimum of five years of experiencing with EC (electronic contracting) to interact with transactional clients including avails, makegoods, under delivery weight, etc. is preferred.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Advanced level PC skills including word processing, PowerPoint, Outlook, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic and outgoing personality.
  • Strong judgment, decision making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to professionally interact with customers and co-workers; advanced written, verbal and presentation skills with acute degree of social perceptiveness.
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness and ability to work weekend and evening events.
  • Must be team oriented and customer focused; cultural fit within the existing sales organization will be ongoing requirement.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, write and operate a computer keyboard, standard office equipment and telephone. The associate regularly communicates with associates and managers. The associate is frequently required to move about and reach for items. The associate may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others.
