Job Details:

Purpose

The Energy Institute seeks a highly motivated and skilled Energy Workforce and Community Coordinator to join our team. This position will lead our workforce development initiatives and community engagement efforts. Reporting to the Director, the candidate will develop and implement workforce development strategies for the energy industry that align with best practices and UT's mission and values.

Responsibilities

Strategic Development & Implementation

  • Develop and implement workforce development strategies for the energy industry that align with best practices and The University of Texas at Austin's mission and values.
  • Lead the planning and execution of training and educational programs aimed at enhancing workforce skills and capabilities with an array of community partners.

Community Engagement & Partnership Development

  • Build and maintain robust relationships with community partners, including local workforce development boards, employers, educational institutions, community-based organizations, and civic leaders, to support workforce development efforts.
  • Conduct outreach activities, such as listening tours, community events, townhalls, and targeted meetings, to gather feedback and increase awareness of the institute's projects and initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between the organization and community groups and government, fostering understanding, collaboration, and positive relationships.

Workforce Assessment & Analysis

  • Conduct needs assessments and job estimation analyses to identify workforce development priorities for nine statewide energy projects.
  • Utilize data and feedback from community engagement efforts to inform strategic decision-making and program development.

Project Management & Reporting

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Track, measure, and report on the effectiveness of workforce development and community engagement initiatives, providing regular updates to leadership.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of community engagement professionals, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall success of the Energy Institute by participating in special projects and other coordinated efforts as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business administration, human resources, organizational development or a similar discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in workforce development and community engagement including experience with complex projects and collaborative partnerships.
  • Experience working in the energy sector.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with various groups of people.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to think critically and to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to draft research-based documents, including reports and briefs, under light supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong critical thinking skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Skill in managing multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Understanding of, and experience in, a university research environment.
  • Proficiency in use of normal business software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point or similar) as well as creating, managing, and coordinating online meeting and webinar platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Workforce development experience working with or for a local workforce development board and/or an educational institution or community benefit organization that focused or supported workforce development.
  • Graduate degree in a related field.
  • Experience in a university research environment and knowledge of workforce development concepts, federal and state funding guidelines, and regional service delivery strategies.

Salary Range

$70,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Typical office environment.

  • Frequent travel within Texas and the larger region and work outside business hours will be required.

Employment Eligibility:

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
