Responsibilities

Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents, located in New Kent, Virginia, provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, rehabilitative, and educational services for children and adolescents ages 2 through 22 who are challenged by co-occurring medical and behavioral diagnoses. Cumberland Hospital is one of the few specialty children's hospitals providing dual treatment protocols for both medical and mental health issues. Cumberland includes a 62 bed Hospital Program, a 16 bed Inpatient Acute Program, and 30 bed Residential Treatment Program. Our goal is to stabilize medical problems and help children develop positive behavioral coping strategies using an interdisciplinary approach.

The Admissions Liaison handles intake by screening patients to ensure that admission criteria are met. The Admissions Liaison facilitates the admission process by assisting the client, family, and referral sources by providing information regarding treatment, insurance and admission procedures. This position reports to the Director of Admissions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Answering and responding to incoming program inquiries/referrals via telephone, fax, and/or internet in a timely manner
  • Providing information to potential clients, families, and referral sources regarding treatment programs, insurance information, and admission procedures
  • Obtaining initial client clinical and funding source information
  • Communicates the patient's information to the Medical Director, Director of Admissions, Director of UR, and Director of Nursing
  • Conducts the admission process with the potential client and families including: explaining the admission forms and securing the appropriate signatures and processing all signed forms as well as copying and distributing to appropriate departments in a timely manner
  • Providing follow-up to referral sources and families regarding status of patient

Cumberland Hospital is a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace.

Pay: Hourly (bi-weekly) and is commensurate with education and experience.

A pre-hire drug screen, pre-hire background checks, and education verification are required of new employees.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Master's Degree in Human Services or Registered Nursing License is required
  • Prefer experience working with children and adolescents in healthcare setting
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, and ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Must consistently exhibit mental and emotional ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job
