- Lead Systems Administrator shall provide installation, implementation, and problem resolution support for COTS and FSI custom designed applications LAN Installation will include both LAN hardware and software. Installations shall strictly adhere to Department of State Diplomatic Security Configuration Standards.
- Ensure that all DS and IRM security and hardware configurations are strictly adhered to. Report security violations to FSI ISSO or FSI AISSO as soon as they are discovered. The FSI ISSO or FSI AISSO shall decide on the appropriate course of action and inform the Lead Systems Administrator of their decision.
- The Lead Systems Administrator shall adhere to FSI internal processes for security violations and not attempt to circumvent these processes by raising issues to a higher authority without written approval from the COR and FSI ISSO.
Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:
- Lead Systems Administrator will provide technical assistance to FSI users experiencing trouble with their applications.
- Troubleshoot problems utilizing diagnostic software when possible. For problems that cannot be immediately corrected, prepare an issue/instance report recommending necessary course of action to remedy situation.
Hardware and Software Installation:
- Install and test new PC hardware and software acquired by FSI.
- Ensure that all newly installed computers, peripherals, or boards are in working order and logged into the OMIS inventory.
- Install and test new PC software, ensure that it is working properly and logged into the inventory.
- Interview the FSI staff to determine hardware and application needs.
- Provide telephone support to LAN users.
- Utilize ticketing system to manage tickets.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Beyond the ability to perform all duties of the Lead Systems administrator must also possess the following traits:
- Serve as the Alternate KPM when the KPM is not available.
- Expert knowledge of FSI Desktop support services.
- Ability to work with upper-level government and contract staff in a professional manner
- Ability to generate well written reports with no errors.
- Ability to supervise helpdesk staff, assign work, train new systems administrators, and other tasks associated with leading a government help desk.
- Utilize proper judgement and provide a high level of customer support in a professional manner.
- Conduct in a professional manner in all personal interactions with customers and with the team.
- Information Assurance Specialists may be designated by FSI/EX/OMIS and approved by the CSB Cryptographic to Access Program to be responsible for assisting in maintaining equipment and accounts on the Department of State's Classified Network at FSI managed sites under the direction of the FSI IMO and Division Director.
- Lead Systems Administrator shall maintain a Top Secret level security clearance at all times.
Minimum/General Experience:
- This position requires 10+ years' experience and specific knowledge of FSI operations.
