Provides nursing support to the physician and provides direct nursing care to patients in an inpatient setting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Provides direct patient care, as outlined in the patient's plan of care and/or as directed by the overseeing role , to promote comfort and/or return to functional health for the patient. Consults with the Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist to seek guidance in delivery of nursing care, as necessary.2. Performs designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.3. Accurately observes, records and reports to the overseeing role, all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions and progress in a timely manner.4. Assists physicians and the overseeing role with examinations and procedures, as assigned.5. Contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data.6. Observes the condition or change in condition of the patient, records signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status and reports findings to the overseeing role.7. Participates in the development of the patient's plan of care by providing data, contributing to the identification of priorities and assisting in the identification of measures to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses.8. Assists in assigned patient and family education and rehabilitation by reviewing patient needs with the overseeing role and following the teaching plan.9. Documents nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating to appropriate members of the health care team.10. Accurately and safely administers intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulization and/or MDI delivered medications as assigned.11. Obtains instruction and supervision as necessary from the overseeing role when implementing nursing technique or practices. Heavy/Hard work: Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning of patients, standing, walking; carrying of patients, materials and equipment weighing 40+lbs. This is performed on a daily basis. 1. Must have the ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions, and must be capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.2. Excellent written and oral communication skills.3. Must be skilled with computer systems used by both physician offices and hospitals to capture data accurately and consistently.4. Ability to function as a team member in respect to organization, communication, and task prioritization. Must also be able to work weekends, holidays and all shifts. Additional Job Description: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. If hired after July 1, 2022, must be Registered by West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care, or applicable state, as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (LRTR) OR If hired prior to July 1, 2022, must be licensed by West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care, or applicable state, as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist - Registered (LRTR) within one year of employment. 2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date. Performs basic and advanced therapeutic procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients by order of the physician. 2. Performs emergency and acute Respiratory Care procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. 3. Assembles, checks, and corrects malfunctions and performs quality controls on Respiratory Care equipment. 4. Initiates, maintains, and discontinues mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. 5. Performs and analyzes arterial blood gas samples adhering to standards of accrediting agencies (CAP, Joint Commission). 6. Performs diagnostic procedures including bronchoscopies, pulse oximetry, and pH trend studies. POSITION SUMMARY: Performs routine and advanced Respiratory Care procedures according to established standards in the Blood Gas Lab, Adult Critical Care Units, Pediatric/Neonatal Critical Care Units, Emergency Department and General Patient Care areas. Adheres to the established performance expectations of employees in the areas of People, Service, Performance Improvement, and Shared Values and Culture. 7. Communicates appropriately and effectively with other members of the healthcare team regarding all aspects of patient care. 8. Provides assistance with patient and family/caregiver education along with other members of the healthcare team. 9. Actively participates in departmental quality assurance and hospital-wide organizational performance improvement activities. 10. Maintains clinical and professional competency based upon established standards of practice. 11. Demonstrates the ability to perform all relevant departmental competencies. 12.
