I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Delivers education programs to educate healthcare professionals in various clinical specialty areas, such as, but not limited to, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Saving (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
2. Ensures appropriate documentation of education programs by maintaining course records to document employee participation and to comply with regulatory requirements.
3. Manages all appropriate equipment and inventory including cleaning, maintaining, transporting, unloading, and set-up of the necessary materials and supplies for each course.
4. Evaluates and assesses classes for content improvement and effectiveness.
5. Seeks professional development opportunities to update clinical theory and practice knowledge and to keep abreast of new trends in education methods and concepts
6. Keeps abreast of American Heart Association (AHA) standards, certification for instruction by the AHA and adult learning practices
7. Maintains instructor certifications
8. Performs administrative tasks including but not limited to email, returning voicemail, filing, scheduling, invoicing, certification card issuance.
9. Assists with quality monitoring of other instructors within the training center.

2. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
3. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
5. Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. High School diploma
2. Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor certification

Preferred:
1. Bachelor's degree
2. Current American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor
3. Workplace violence certification, MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) Instructor Certification or other Crisis de-escalation instructor credentials

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Minimum five (5) years of related work experience, including two (2) years providing clinical education
2. Ability to communicate course material in a clear and understandable manner
3. Ability to teach effectively in an adult learning environment
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
5. Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities
6. Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred:
1. Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P), Registered Nurse (RN), or similar clinical certification and experience

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
