SUMMARY

The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for managing the financial reporting process and filings in accordance with principles generally accepted in the United States of America (GAAP), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and respective regulatory guidelines. This role is also responsible for overseeing accounting policies and technical accounting related functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads and manages all SEC reporting process and respective filings, including Annual Reports on Form 10-K, quarterly reports on Form 10-Q, and 8-K filings, in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Works with Finance and Accounting team to ensure that the bank's financial records and reports are in up-to-date condition reflecting changes in the general ledger, in accordance with Company policies and procedures. This includes overseeing the general ledger reconciliation and certification process to ensure complete and accurate reporting of the financial activity of the Bank.
  • Provides support for the preparation of internal reports to management, the Board of Directors, and Committees.
  • Manages the preparation of support and related documentation for quarterly earnings release and investor presentation, including NASDAQ notifications, GlobeNews Wire interface for all PRs, and respective 8-K filings.
  • Assists with banking regulatory filings including the Bank Call report and required reports filed with the Federal Reserve Board, in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintains ongoing collaboration with other departments to obtain and review support used in the preparation of earnings releases and external filings, to ensure transactions are captured appropriately in the financial statements.
  • Manages and oversees the maintenance of the SEC reporting software, including review of Xtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) tagging of financial statements and footnotes.
  • Leads accounting policy development and provide expert advice and accounting guidance for technical accounting and regulatory issues.
  • Assists the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) with the ongoing monitoring and interpretation of new GAAP, SEC, regulatory pronouncements, assesses and documents the accounting guidance and related impact, as well as implements the appropriate accounting disclosure treatment, as needed.
  • Assists the CAO with developing and maintaining procedures and documentation, as appropriate.
  • Partners with Finance and Accounting team to ensure accounting policies and procedures are current and provide training as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities and implement improvements to the financial reporting process that enhance efficiency and ensure that filings reflect best practices.
  • Supports accounting research and analysis projects on as-needed basis.
  • Assists with various audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Assists with developing other ad hoc pro forma reports.
  • Complies with, and stays abreast of, all policies and procedures, federal and state laws applicable to the job.
  • Provide, present, and promote the Citizens Experience to all external and internal customers.
  • Oversees and completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has supervisory responsibilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced technical knowledge of US GAAP
  • Effective technical writing and research skills, and solid experience in the implementation and handling of complex GAAP accounting matters
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply sound judgement to facilitate problem identification and adapt to changing situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Accounting or Finance. Requires 7 or more years of accounting experience or combination of work experience and advanced degree, 2 years of supervisory experience and relevant experience in the financial services industry and SEC reporting required.

Licensed CPA or candidate for CPA is highly desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

COMPUTER & SOFTWARE SKILLS

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, Excel, Word, PowerPoint are required.

Salary Range:$127,475.00 To $184,838.00 Annually
