West Virginia University School of Medicine's Departments of Anesthesiology and Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry seek a Pain Psychologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of Pain Psychology and will be located primarily within the WVU Center for Integrative Pain Management. The position will include clinical, teaching/supervision, and research responsibilities. The candidate will lead the behavioral unit of the CIPM and serve on the WVU Medicine Medical Staff Affairs Pain Committee. The candidate will provide evaluations for candidacy for opioids or implantable devices and evidence-based group or individual treatment within the integrated pain center. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, it is expected that candidates engage in research.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology from an APA/CPA-accredited graduate program with an APA/CPA-approved internship and be immediately eligible for licensure in West Virginia. For appointment at the Associate Professor rank, a demonstrated track record of leadership, clinical and teaching excellence and scholarly activity are required. For appointment at the Professor rank, Board Certification (ABPP) is required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
The WVU Medicine Center for Integrative Pain Management strives to treat the whole person, not just the physical symptoms of pain. The Pain Clinic offers a multi-disciplinary approach with the services: Behavioral Health, clinical group and individual therapy, chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, nutrition, along with physical movement services.
Researchers at the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute have developed innovative clinical trials toward new, non-opioid treatments for a range of pain conditions aligned with the WVU Medicine Center for Integrative Pain Management's mission to combat the opioid crisis.
WVU Anesthesiology has the largest anesthesia practice in the state, and is the only anesthesiology residency-training program. The department has more than 150 credentialed clinicians.
