Additional Job Description: Pediatric Gastroenterologist- Telemedicine Clinics West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seeks a part time Pediatric Gastroenterologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice remotely, providing services to patients via our telemedicine clinics. Duties: The successful candidate will practice pediatric gastroenterology in concert with advanced practice providers on site with the patient in our rural telemedicine clinics. Sixteen patients are typically seen per day in multiple clinics as assisted by the telemedicine APPs. This mature and growing telemedicine program serves to support a specialty groupof four other gastroenterologists, three Peds GI advanced practice providers, and three nurse coordinatorsat the Children's Hospital. Endoscopy is performed within the hospital with a strong team of pediatric anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists. Inpatients are managed by the hospitalist and critical care services with Pediatric GI providing consults as needed. WVU Children's proudly participates in the Improve Care Now network. Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a Pediatric residency program, as well as a Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship programand have a minimum of five years of experience.Successful candidates must be board certifiedin Pediatric Gastroenterology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Our new 150 bed Children's Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. There is also be a Birthing Center including a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence. The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia's largest health system and the state's largest employer.
