JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Laboratory of Marina Feric in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Center for Eukaryotic Gene Regulation at the Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Research Technologist - Life Sciences (Advanced Professional)/ Lab Manager. The Feric lab takes an interdisciplinary approach to uncover the biomolecular driving forces underlying the organization of the cell in the context of human health and age-related diseases.

This position will be responsible for coordinating the ordering, maintaining appropriate inventory, storage, and maintenance of supplies, lab ware, and instruments essential to the operation of the lab; Develop, design and conduct one or more small or moderately complex research projects or experiments in line with plan, reviews progress and evaluates results; Train users in equipment operation and research techniques, explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, operations limitations and outcomes; Author/co-author on papers, proposals, presentations and reports; Participate in formulating research methods and suggesting options for improving quality and recommending solutions; identify problems and related technical issues leading to long-term solutions by identifying technical approaches for problem solving; Mentor and supervise assigned trainees in the development of technical scientific skills; and May be responsible for operation of a specialized research area or laboratory. Preferred experience includes protein purification, cell culture, and genetic engineering in addition to basic molecular/cell biology techniques. Ideal candidates will have experience training undergraduates, graduates, and postdocs as well as strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's degree preferred) plus 7 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
