JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

We are searching for a Experimental Acoustics Engineer to join our Sensor Analysis and Data Modeling Department at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

You Will:

  • Support several principle scientists through laboratory and field experimentation, data acquisition and analysis, prototype design, and computational modeling and data comparisons

  • Development and utilization of data acquisition and visualization tools

  • Development codes with common engineering software such as MATLAB, Python, C++, and LabVIEW

  • Develop laboratory apparatus and prototyping

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline.

Preferred skills/experience include:

  • Knowledge of the use of basic electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, and signal analyzers

  • Basic knowledge of electronics and circuit analysis/development

  • Experience working in a laboratory environment

  • Experience in data acquisition and visualization

  • Prior knowledge of programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, and/or LabVIEW

  • Exposure to acoustics and signal processing

  • Exposure to hardware design and/or embedded programming

  • Exposure to machining and/or drafting

Your working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$76,700.00 - $129,500.00
