Job Summary

Provides in-person instruction and supports students' independent computer-assisted learning in one or more content areas: Math, Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA), Science, Social Studies, Workforce Readiness, and/or Career Training for adults to successfully earn their high school equivalency (HSE) diploma and an industry-recognized credential. Develops students' study skills and academic proficiency to transition to college or career pathways. Follows required curriculum contextualized to local in-demand industries, MCCCD fields of interest, and Arizona Adult Education Standards for instruction. Utilizes and integrates technology in the classroom to develop students' digital literacy skills. Engages in student assessments, progress data review, and attendance record maintenance to guide instruction, retain students, and meet grant program requirements. Maintains professional learning requirements for the Arizona Adult Education Certification. Performs administrative duties, provides leadership and managerial support related to the instructional program, and serves as lead instructor to part-time instructors.

Essential Functions

55% - Provides in-person instruction to students in one or more content areas including Math, RLA, Science, Social Studies, Workforce Readiness, and/or Career Training classes, in a variety of modalities and using current methodologies, by implementing standards-based curriculum, classroom prep, curriculum integration, grading, and technology integration
15% - Provides lead-level work direction; assigns and monitors the work of others; assists with the oversight of instructional staff; participates in instructional staff hiring and scheduling; engages in mentoring, training, and onboarding of part-time instructors
10% - Provides leadership and managerial support to the Instructional Services Supervisor in all areas related to program operations, data collection, data analysis, peer mentoring, classroom observations, and student retention and completion
10% - Engages in ongoing, job-embedded professional learning activities; coordinates, plans, and leads professional learning community activities
10% - Monitors student progress testing as outlined in the Arizona Department of Education (ADE)Assessment Policy; analyzes student records and data to address the student's instructional needs and adheres to program and ADE processes; ensures that ADE-mandated program outcomes are met. Supports student recruitment and enrollment in workforce/integrated education and training for career pathways, and performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and five years of experience in area of assignment. Some assignments may require an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or higher depending on field of instruction.

There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

Bachelor's degree required
Must be able to obtain the Arizona Department of Education Adult Education Certification (which includes AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card).

Desired Qualifications

A. Master's degree
B. Three (3) or more years of face-to-face instructional experience in adult basic education, middle school, secondary, or postsecondary setting
C. Supervisory or leadership experience in an educational setting
D. Experience administering and interpreting standardized assessments
E. Experience tracking student outcome data
F. Experience using instructional technology

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements .May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs. The primary work location is Rio Salado College @ West-MEC Northeast- 1617 W Williams Dr, Phoenix, AZ 85027. Requires some mornings and / or weekends
May require occasional work at other college sites and some local travel
