Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE: To manage clinical functions and provision of clinical services/programming for patients on the acute units.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides direction and maintains responsibility for the quality of programming offered on the assigned units, from a clinical, financial and safety standpoint. Works in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services. Responsible for assisting in maintaining effective milieu management.
  2. Supervises therapy staff, student interns and maintains responsibility for staff assignments and clinical coverage.
  3. Conducts performance evaluations of assigned pool and full-time staff.
  4. Ensures needs of physicians, referral sources and other community resources are met.
  5. In conjunction with Nurse Manager, takes leadership role in team meetings.
  6. Leads clinical staff meeting as needed.
  7. Takes leadership in ensuring patient staffings take place as per policy.
  8. Monitors Performance Improvement activities for clinical program indicators.
  9. Provides individual, family and group therapy as necessary, and documents per hospital policy.
  10. Provides and arranges necessary education for staff, and ensures clinical staff are current with mandatory training.
  11. Maintains good working relationships with other departments in the hospital.
  12. Ensures hospital policy and procedures are implemented.
  13. Ensures special treatment procedures, or any other restriction of rights, are in compliance with hospital policies and reflect in the patient's treatment plans as needed.
  14. Participates in processing grievances generated by patients, their guardians, staff or outside agencies.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Excellent written and verbal skills, strong assessment and interpersonal skills. Competency in individual, family and group psychotherapy. Familiarity with TDH standards and commitment process.

EDUCATION: Master's Degree

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: LCSW, LMSW, LPC, or LPC-I

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years post licensure experience working with psychiatric population. At least 1 year supervisory experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Ability to speak and write.

* Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential tasks.

* Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions.

* Ability to perform CPR.

* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
