Job Summary

The Capital Project Engineer is accountable for implementing projects that achieve business objectives and translating those business objectives in to project objectives.

They will partner with MT and SMP leaders as owner of 5-year capital plan.

They will collaborate with site SMP leader, process engineers, operations, and project team leaders to drive completion of projects from conceptual phase to the implementation of those improvements.
  • Lead manufacturing staff and vendors to specify process equipment for capital plans and providing engineering support for capital improvement projects.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of Project Quality Plans, includingauditing work processes and deliverables for compliance, and for meeting agreed upon projectquality requirements and expectations (FSSC:22000 and DSI)
  • Regularly engages the project steering team to ensure alignment with business and obtain functional direction, request staffing support, seek assistance with issue resolution, make strategic project decisions and provide status updates, throughout execution of the project.
  • Refines and leads the site's decision board process for capital project selection
  • Ensures the FEL process is followed consistent with the business needs, all required FELdeliverables are accomplished in a quality manner, and leads the project gatekeeping reviews.
  • Leads the team in identifying non-cap alternatives or lower capital options, evaluating scope options, conducting risks analyses and developing mitigation plans.
  • Ensures excellence in adherence to PSM, SHE, MIQA, GMP, export controls and trade secretsprinciples, and other core value standards, processes and procedures.
  • Performs economic evaluations, prepares funding requests, forecasts capital and non-capexpenditures and asset write-offs, and ensures necessary financial reporting and accounting is performed.
  • For smaller projects, serves as the owner's lead project engineer to ensure necessaryengineering processes are followed, leveraging highly with engineering and contractors.
  • Ensures site personnel are staffed and preparing for commissioning and start-up of the newfacilities, including training, procedure updates, maintenance PM records updates, etc.; ensuresschedules are aligned with supply chain and operations/maintenance needs.
  • Defines and analyzes KPI's to insure overall performance expectations for the project are met, and communicates results to the steering team and appropriate functional leaders.
  • Manage overall project expenditures, cash flow and schedule to meet business expectations in collaboration with site SMP lead/PTL
  • Manage project change.
  • Drive capital project work processes and practices for <$0.5 MM or partner with project PTL for projects >$0.5MM
  • Decide which bestpractices are appropriate for the project and lead in their application

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • BS in Engineering required-- Chemical or Mechanical preferred
  • Professional Engineering and/or PMP certification preferable
  • Experience in Dairy/Food industry
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a changingenvironment to meet challenging business needs.
  • Good organization, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, CAD (preferred), Project (preferred)
  • Experience managing capital projects

Salary Ranges:

$89,100.00 - $133,700.00
