This job assumes responsibility for designing fitness programs, performing fitness evaluations, and the day-to-day operation of the weight room and cardiovascular areas.

Education

Required -

High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred -

Additional degrees, business training experience and/or certifications may be combined to meet minimum qualifications.

Work Experience

Required -

2 years experience in exercise science or a related field.

Certifications

Required -

CPR Certified

Preferred -

Certification as a Personal Trainer

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Job Duties

  • Designs and implements fitness programs according to American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines for new and current members.
  • Performs fitness evaluations according to ACSM guidelines.
  • Maintains ActivTrax workouts and implement follow-up calls.
  • Connects with members in three specific areas the fitness floor, over the phone, and fitness consultations.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness in all fitness areas.
  • Enforces weight room rules and procedures.
  • Follows opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintains paper work and physician clearance forms in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Other related duties as required.

The physical essential functions of this job include (but are not limited to) the following: Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force. Mechanical lifting devices (carts, dollies, etc.) or team lifts should be utilized.
Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
