Basic Function

This is a professional expert, short term temporary opportunity.

Under the direction of assigned supervisors, provide advising services for a program are likely to involve a combination of direct service provision, research and analysis, program development and improvement, and advocacy. The peer mentor will need to draw from their own experiences, as well as their expertise and training, to provide high quality and effective advising series that meet the needs of the program and its participants.

Representative Duties

Drawing from their own experiences to provide insights and guidance to program participants and staff on navigating the criminal justice system and the challenges of reentry.

Conducting research analysis to identify best practices and effective strategies for supporting individuals who have been incarcerated and developing recommendations for program improvements.

Facilitating group discussions and workshops and program participants and staff to promote dialogue, share information, and build trust.

Developing and delivering training materials and presentations for program staff, community partners, and other stakeholders.

Providing one-on-one coaching and mentoring to program participants to support their personal and professional development.

Developing and implementing evaluation and assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of the program and identify areas for improvement.

Collaborating with program staff and other stakeholders to develop policies and procedures that support the needs of program participants.

Participating in outreach and recruitment efforts to identify and engage potential program participants.

Advocate for policies and programs that support the successful reentry of formerly incarcerated individuals into their communities.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Must either have either obtained Associates Degree or currently working towards Associates Degree.

Experience with the criminal justice system preferred.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Identification Card.
