Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively seeking Mechanical Engineers with 10+ years of experience to join our company's Raleigh office. The individual should have experience with hydraulic modelling and analysis of oil & gas transmission systems, as well as utility (water / sewer / stormwater) systems. Experience in industrial complex and / or marine terminals are a plus.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare a variety of mechanical designs from waterfront facilities such as marinas, marine oil terminals, container yards, shipyards, Navy and Coast Guard waterfront facilities, and pump stations and utilities (water / compressed air / sewer / stormwater / fire protection) systems projects.
  • Prepares equipment/materials specification, calculation, data sheets, drawings review for mechanical equipment, pumps, tanks and utilities.
  • Design piping systems. 3d Modeling is a plus
  • Prepare design documents (plans and specifications) with an emphasis in utility service design
  • Generate proposals and develop fee estimates for PS&E packages
  • Work with Department lead to manage clients and mentor jr. engineers
  • Conduct condition assessment inspections for various utility infrastructure

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design required
  • CREA in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Experience in piping design required; 3D piping design using either Plant 3D or PDS preferred
  • Design experience in industrial complex and / or marine terminals is a plus
  • General understanding of process design, process flow diagram development, and piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) development
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Availability and willingness to travel

Working conditions:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
