Job Summary

Under the daily supervision of third-party hotel management, responsible for being primary owner of all in-house cleaning and housekeeping. Clean bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, and floor surfaces using cloths, mops, sponges, brushes, and/or cleaning agents by extending arms over head, bending and stooping. Utilize required chemicals to perform cleaning tasks, following all established chemical safety procedures and guidelines. Strip and make beds, changing bed linens, which may require lifting bedspreads weighing a maximum of 50 lbs. Responsible for depositing dirtied linens into proper receptacle. Dust all furniture, pictures, drawers, window ledges, and shelves thoroughly. Push and pull vacuum throughout hotel; including but not limited to guest rooms, meeting rooms, hallways, etc. Empty interior trash bins, cleaning and replacing as necessary. Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in guest rooms. Restock all in-room guest supplies; including but not limited to soaps, shampoos, coffee, tea, etc. Mop, clean and disinfect restrooms and showers; ensuring attention to detail in areas including but not limited to grout, tile, drains, etc. Maintain full housekeeping cart; ensure stock levels at beginning and end of shift. Push/pull housekeeping cart to necessary locations, requiring up to 40lbs of force. Interact with internal & external customers by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, integrity & a welcoming attitude including greeting customers, interacting in a pleasant manner, anticipating customer needs, & displaying a positive demeanor. Communicate all maintenance concerns to appropriate parties. Communicate all custodial supply needs. Report all potential sanitation and safety hazards. Contact front desk and/or supervisor when guest assistance is requested/required. Responsible for meeting/exceeding hotel expectations regarding personal hygiene, dress, grooming. Responsible for electronic and physical key control; checking in and out keys, remain in possession of keys exclusively on-site, communicate lost keys immediately. Ensure guest room security by following required procedures; including but not limited to propping open doors, controlling access to room by redirecting potential occupants to front desk, announcing self-prior to room entry.

Ensure completion of University-required trainings; electronic and classroom-based.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working professionally as a hospitality housekeeper in a highly fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Experience stripping and making beds in a hotel/hospitality environment.
  • Experience cleaning full-size bathrooms.
  • Experience communicating in English, both orally and in written form, to understand and carry out instructions and interact effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and guests.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with customer service in a hotel environment.
  • Experience with housekeeping in a hotel environment.
  • Experience working with Hyatt brand standards.
  • Knowledge of University policies and practices. Knowledge of the UC Davis Principles of Community.
  • Knowledge of various chemicals required in professional housekeeping service.

Physical Demands

  • Lift furniture/equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment
