Duties/Responsibilities


Duties/Responsibilities
Each Assistant Learning Specialist will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and academic coaching for student athletes with learning disabilities and other academic needs. Each Assistant Learning Specialist will:

  • Collaborate with a professional Learning Specialist in working with their caseload of students each semester
  • Be directly supervised by a professional Learning Specialist
  • Attend weekly Learning Specialist/Assistant Learning Specialist staff meetings
  • Have opportunities for professional development/career exploration in student athlete academic services (some consideration provided to applicants who are able to make a two-year commitment)
  • Monitor and document weekly progress of their assigned caseload
  • Assisting student-athletes in setting and tracking manageable academic goals and intentional weekly objectives.
  • Collaborate with other Academic Services staff (Associate AD, Academic Coordinators, Tutor Coordinator, Tutors) in strategic management of student-athlete academic support and academic progress
  • Create and present workshops on learning strategies and academic skills
