Job Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring operational security at National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) West. Escort and monitor visitors, while ensuring classified information is not accessible or visible to unauthorized personnel. Provide effective customer service and achieve customer satisfaction by delivering services in a professional, courteous, and timely manner for the NGA West Base Operations Support Contract.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Alert NGA Security Police in the event a disaster occurs which may include fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Participate in crisis support.

  • Escort visitors and authorized personnel. Escorting duties include ensuring the uncleared personnel to whom they are assigned are always monitored, have no exposure to classified data and comply with security regulations. Check security badges to verify security clearances. May be assigned as attendant at an access entry point to ensure only personnel with the proper clearance enter and exit assigned area.

  • Provide excellent customer service to all persons at the site.

  • Escorts who will be required to work inside SCIF areas will be required to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start time of the escorting assignment.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Enforce and monitor any, and all, policy changes.

  • Contact appropriate personnel to resolve issues.

  • Perform general administrative tasks such as recording time on time sheets, leave requests, etc.

  • Practice good safety habits and possess familiarity with NGA and ServiceSource safety policy.

  • Circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect security.

  • Warn persons of rule infractions or violations and report infractions or violations to supervisor.

  • Adhere to contract mandated dress code and provide excellent customer service to all persons at the site.

  • Maintain NGA site access by completing all NGA required trainings and briefing on time.

  • If physically capable, may be assigned to grounds team.

  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • A high school diploma or state certified equivalent is required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain NGA site access by successfully passing HSPD-12 background check required.

  • Previous security experience preferred.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI government security clearance with polygraph preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Be familiar with safety policies which include the Disaster Control Plan, DOD and NGA physical security policies, registry policies and NGA badging system.

  • Must be able to work with people internally and externally at all levels of an organization.

  • Proficient typing skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software.

  • Excellent oral/verbal communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented and able to carry out work with the highest levels of accuracy.

  • Must possess and demonstrate excellent time management skills.

  • Candidate must be flexible and adaptable, as they may be rotated based on contract need.

Supervision Received

The incumbent performs a variety of routine work within established policies and procedures and receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments.

The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit. The employee may occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
