Job Summary
Facilitates and advances the professional learning of teachers as individuals and in groups to increase student learning, early education, and child development services. Utilizes knowledge of standards, pedagogy, and research to advance teaching practice and student learning. Uses assessment data to advance teaching practice and student learning. Ensures compliance with related educational standards, local, federal, and state laws and procedures, and plans that pertain to infant/toddler and preschool education and the classroom. Sets precedent within limits and/or administers operating rules and procedures under management guidance. Performs intermediate troubleshooting or analysis; problems require interpretation of data using generally prescribed procedures. Frequent interaction to provide basic information and/or occasional interaction requiring detailed procedural explanations or technical responses.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Observe, model and coach daily on developmentally appropriate and effective early childhood instructional techniques and practices in the classroom.
  • Serve as an instructional leader by providing guidance, support, and suggestions to the classroom staff through individualization of lesson plans, child assessments and evaluations, classroom observations to produce positive child outcomes
  • Conduct formal coaching as prescribed in the agency adopted coaching model. Assist classroom staff with setting and achieving their coaching goals as well as school readiness, curricula, and program goals
  • Monitor and support the implementation of curriculum to ensure classroom environments and appropriate activities that include all Early Childhood Education content areas: individual development, social development, emotional development, cognitive skills, language skills and physical skills
  • Identify training and professional needs of staff and participate in the individual training plan for staff development to support Teacher Effectiveness and teacher onboarding. Facilitate trainings as needed
  • Ensure ongoing communication with School Leader, Teaching and Learning Specialist(s) and other relevant staff with regard to coaching practices for assigned teachers
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate in-service programs based on staff needs, available resources, and community services
  • Serve as information liaison between Teachers, Management, Disabilities, Mental Health, Health, Nutrition, Family Support and the public school system
  • Attend meetings and collaborate with Teaching and Learning team
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related degree is required
  • 3 or more years of classroom experience as a degreed or certified lead teacher is required
  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related area is preferred
  • Experience teaching both pre-school and infant/toddler children is preferred

Certification/license


  • Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood strongly preferred

  • Knowledge and demonstrated practice of developmentally, culturally, and individually appropriate practice in early childhood classrooms aligning with CAP Tulsa's core values.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in professional settings to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc.
  • Advanced organizational skills, efficiency skills and excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to completing assignments on a timely basis.

Essential Physical & Mental Requirements
Classroom position with some local travel (exposure to normal traffic hazards). Work requires bending, stooping, lifting, squatting, kneeling, crawling, stretching, pushing, and pulling throughout the day. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Regular and reliable attendance required.
