Selected candidates will join a major academic medical center and established training program. Clinical activities may encompass preventive care, acute and chronic disease management, care coordination, and other aspects of comprehensive pediatric care, with specific responsibilities determined by programmatic needs and the faculty member's area of practice.

The position also offers opportunities to participate in the academic and educational activities of the Division and Department. Depending on faculty series, rank, and assigned responsibilities, activities may include teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, and other health professional learners; clinical program development; quality improvement initiatives; research and other scholarly activities; and service within the Division, Department, School of Medicine, and University.

As part of UCSF's academic health system, General Pediatrics faculty have access to a broad community of clinicians, educators, investigators, and institutional programs spanning the San Francisco and Oakland campuses. Faculty appointments provide opportunities for professional and academic development and for collaboration across disciplines and programs throughout UCSF.
