Job Overview

This position sits within the engineering organization supporting the development, qualification, production, and sustainment of space flight
hardware. The Systems Technologist supports verification activities and technical documentation throughout the product life cycle. In addition, there is a secondary role serving as a test conductor and/or test technician for verification activities.

The role works within established engineering processes while exercising independent technical judgment appropriate to experience. The Systems Technologist collaborates closely with design
engineering, materials and processes, manufacturing
and quality to perform verification test activities at the development, acceptance and qualification levels. This position is well suited for an individual seeking broad technical ownership, cross-functional leadership experience, and long-term growth in requirements-driven development of mission-critical products. The test conductor performs testing
activities under established Quality processes and procedures, using sound judgment to ensure the safe and compliant handling of flight hardware. Successful candidates will have opportunities to develop into systems engineering, integration and testing
, or technical leadership roles.

Responsibilities


  • Plan and support verification and validation
    activities, including definition of verification methods, test objectives, acceptance criteria, compliance matrices, and closure evidence.


  • Participate in technical reviews such as test readiness reviews, configuration reviews, and certification or customer reviews.

  • Generate and maintain test plans, test procedures
    , verification documents, engineering reports, change packages, and other product-definition records.


  • Communicate technical information clearly to team members, cross-functional partners, leadership, suppliers, and external customers.

  • Conduct suit testing
    activities including manned and unmanned operations. Support other ILC product testing
    on an as needed/availability basis


  • Perform suit hardware assembly
    and disassembly activities as part of testing.




Requirements


  • Must be able to access shared databases supporting U.S. Government programs. Due to U.S. export control regulations, applicants must qualify as a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), refugee, asylee, or otherwise be eligible to obtain any required U.S. Government authorizations.

  • 5+ years of experience in product development, integration, test, manufacturing
    , or engineering support. Co-op, internship, capstone, or military technical experience may be considered.




Core Competencies


  • Foundational understanding of treatment of mission critical hardware, and ability to follow work instructions and test procedures.

  • Proficiency with standard engineering tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and document collaboration systems. Experience with a requirements-management tool
    is desirable.


  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with engineers, technicians, program teams, suppliers, and customers.

  • Willingness and ability to follow laboratory
    , test, and production safety practices, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).


  • Ability to read, understand, and execute work instructions, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation written in English.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally to local worksites, suppliers, customer facilities, or test locations as needed.



Preferences


  • Academic project work or early professional experience with complex, regulated, or safety-critical products in aerospace
    , defense, medical
    devices, energy systems, or advanced manufacturing.


  • Exposure to NASA
    , Department of Defense, commercial space, or equivalent aerospace
    development standards and customer requirements.


  • Experience supporting environmental
    , qualification, acceptance, or integrated system testing
    , including anomaly resolution and verification closure.


  • Familiarity with configuration management, change control, product lifecycle management, and formal technical review processes.

  • Demonstrated technical curiosity, sound judgment, and ownership appropriate for work supporting mission-critical hardware.

  • CPR trained.

  • This position will be based at our office in Frederica, DE

  • Wllingness to travel occasionally to local worksites, suppliers, customer facilities, or test locations as needed.
