Position Highlights

The University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Adjunct Instructor in Spring 2027. This position will instruct students in the field of Sports Journalism.

This is a non-tenure eligible position for Spring 2027. The position is in the School of Journalism in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences.

Salary for this position will be determined using a per-course rate of $6,500.

For seven decades, the University of Arizona's School of Journalism has prepared students to understand and report on complex issues at local, national and global levels. The School offers undergraduate and graduate programs that combine professional journalism training with a strong liberal arts foundation, providing students with hands-on experience in field reporting, digital media and student-led publications. With particular strengths in border and global journalism, science and environmental journalism, sports journalism, and longform and investigative reporting, the School fosters innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and global engagement while preparing students for success in an evolving media landscape.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Instruct on-campus undergraduate students in
    field of Sports Journalism.
  • Plan class lectures and assignments.
  • Grade assigned papers and exams.
  • Hold regular office hours.
  • Assign grades to students, based upon performance
    in class assignments and exams.
  • Attend meetings as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's
    degree in related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience as a journalist.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Previous teaching experience at the college or university level.
