As the Piping Designer 3, here is the work you'll do:

  • Develop and deliver piping designs and layouts with a high level of accuracy and adherence to project objectives, ensuring all discipline deliverables meet quality requirements.
  • Utilize cutting-edge CAD software and sophisticated 3D design tools to produce detailed models, drawings, and specifications aligned with engineering best practices.
  • Interpret vendor drawings, engineering documents, and cross-disciplinary inputs effectively to integrate comprehensive design elements into project plans.
  • Conduct thorough material take-offs to quantify necessary resources accurately, supporting budgeting and procurement processes.
  • Oversee and guide CAD personnel to maintain consistency, precision, and timely completion of design tasks, while coordinating seamlessly with engineering and construction disciplines.
  • Periodically visit client sites and plant locations (with approval) to collect field data, validate design assumptions, inspect existing conditions, and collaborate directly with plant personnel to address technical challenges.
  • Contribute to technical reviews and design verification processes that support project milestones and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of industry standards, client-specific design criteria, and emerging technologies to continuously enhance design quality and efficiency.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Proficiency with CAD applications and 3D design software is essential, including the ability to create and manipulate complex geometries and technical drawings with precision.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of engineering terminology and industry practices relevant to piping design, enabling effective communication and documentation.
  • Basic skills or familiarity with estimating, budgeting, planning, and scheduling, supporting the operational and financial aspects of project execution.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, vendor documents, and client requirements to inform design decisions.
  • Sound understanding of materials science, equipment specifications, and their applications within piping systems to ensure safe and functional designs.
  • Competence in applying company and client design guidelines, standards, and best practices to all deliverables.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple design tasks, prioritize work effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills for working within interdisciplinary teams and liaising with clients or site personnel.

And if you have these qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required as a foundational education credential.
  • Technical Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent in a related engineering, design, or technical field to provide essential theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in piping design or a closely related engineering discipline, demonstrating a proven track record of successful project delivery.



In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $83,680 - $125,520. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
