Job Description:

Opportunity Overview

Join DZMCEngineering as a Structural Designer 3 in a flexible remote role and help bring complex engineering concepts to life. You will use advanced CAD and BIM technologies to transform ideas into accurate, build-ready designs supporting critical projects across a variety of industries and scales.

You will develop structural and civil design solutions involving foundations, concrete, steel, grading, stormwater management, and erosion control. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will help ensure designs meet project objectives, engineering standards, and rigorous quality expectations.

As part of a talented, multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with engineers, designers, and project professionals to deliver integrated design documentation that supports successful project execution. Your contributions will directly influence the quality, efficiency, and safety of the work delivered to our clients.

D&Z is committed to innovation, continuous improvement, and professional growth. In this remote role, you will have the opportunity to help advance drafting standards, develop creative design solutions, and expand your expertise while working with a collaborative team. D&Z offers meaningful work, career development, competitive compensation, and comprehensive benefits designed to support your overall well-being.

As the Structural Designer 3, here is the work you'll do:

  • Utilize advanced CAD systems including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and potentially Microstation to create and refine 3D models and 2D construction drawings. This encompasses a significant portion of your role, demanding precision and efficiency to meet project timelines and standards.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive design drawings and layouts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements and regulatory standards. You will also perform detailed checks on deliverables to maintain quality assurance.
  • Interpret and apply applicable codes, standards, and design guidelines rigorously to all aspects of the structural design process, supporting the integrity and safety of solutions.
  • Oversee and mentor drafting personnel, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to align design efforts and manage workflow effectively. Your leadership will facilitate teamwork and project coherence.
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules for design tasks and deliverables to ensure timely completion and efficient resource allocation.
  • Perform precise material take-offs to support procurement processes and cost estimation, contributing to project budgeting and execution planning.

This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively, ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are consistently met across engineering, procurement, and construction stages.
  • Proficiency in CAD and 3D design software, including Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks, with experience in Microstation considered an advantage, enabling the creation of complex and accurate models.
  • Deep understanding of engineering terminology and industry practices paired with the ability to apply relevant codes, standards, procedures, guidelines, and specifications to structural design challenges.
  • Advanced knowledge of design documentation and standards required for assigned projects, ensuring completeness and compliance throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with various industrial equipment such as tanks, skids, and pressure vessels including how structural elements interface with them-for instance, platforms, supports, and anchorage-enhancing the integration of structural design with mechanical components.
And if you have these qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree (AA) or Associate Technical Degree in design and drafting or an equivalent combination of education and training in a related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required as a foundation.
  • A minimum of 7 years of industry experience in structural design, showcasing proficiency with CAD/BIM systems and an in-depth understanding of design standards and construction documentation.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $83,680 - $125,520. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
