The Safety and PI Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the performance improvement/risk management activities at the direction of the PI/RM Director. This position assists in meeting the requirements of all regulatory agencies, TJC, CMS and state and federal agencies, including collecting data as required by each agency and for any corrective actions. This includes collecting data and analysis as required by TJC, investigating and reporting AHCCCS Incident, Accident, Death reports, Seclusion and Restraint reports to contractors, monthly fall reports, and managing the process for lost patient belongings. This role will also be the community liaison ensuring compliance and strong relations with all governing bodies.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in public administration, communications, community relations, social sciences, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience: 1+ years experience with quality assurance, performance improvement, safety, and reporting/data analysis within a hospital setting. Experience with TJC, CMS and state/federal governing agencies.

Additional Requirements: Must have or be able to obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Consult with Directors in the development of department specific programs and quality measures which are within the standards of TJC, CMS, OSHA regulations and all other applicable federal, state or local law/regulations governing health-care entities. Work with Director to identify areas of risk and problems that should be monitored.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the organization and community stakeholders, governing bodies, government representatives, and Tribal communities. Develop and maintain positive, productive working relationships with external partners.
  • Support organizational compliance efforts by ensuring communication and coordination align with applicable policies, regulations, and requirements. Represent the organization at community meetings, public forums, stakeholder sessions, and other events as needed.
  • Prepare clear, professional written materials including correspondence, reports, presentations, and meeting summaries. Communicate organizational goals, initiatives, and updates to external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in resolving concerns, addressing inquiries, and facilitating effective communication between the organization and community partners. Monitor community and stakeholder issues that may impact organizational operations, compliance, or public perception.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated outreach efforts. Maintain accurate records of community contacts, communications, and engagement activities.
  • Promote culturally respectful and inclusive engagement practices, particularly when working with Tribal communities and government entities.
  • Assist in the data collection required by TJC HBIPS standards and assure timely entry into the data base for submission to TJC. Assist with the completion of monthly reports required by corporate.
  • Assist and guide staff members in data collection for their areas. Assist with graphing pertinent data for reporting to the Performance Improvement Committee and Medical Executive Committee.
  • Coordinate any necessary investigations with the PI/RM Director in regards to incident reporting.
  • Assist in analyzing statistical data relating to performance improvement measures.
  • Participate in quality improvement meetings on a regular basis to develop and continuously encourage a facility-wide team effort in meeting quality improvement efforts.
  • Assist with identifying risks and with handling risk investigations with the PI/RM Director as they occur.
  • Assist in quality and safety reporting to internal and external agencies as directed by Risk Manager and/or PI Director.
  • Act as the point of contact and community liaison for the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community, ensuring compliance and strong working relations. This is to include reporting, community interfacing and partnering on initiatives and directives.
