Job Summary
The Electrical Assembly Technician performs mechanical and electrical assembly of motor control centers, control panels, relay panels, panel boards, and related assemblies. This role assembles, wires, modifies, and tests components according to technical drawings, wiring diagrams, manufacturing instructions, and established procedures. The position requires attention to detail, safe equipment operation, and the ability to stage materials and maintain accurate production records in a manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Assemble, fit, mount, and wire subassemblies, components, and standard or near-standard assemblies.
• Assemble and wire motor control centers, control panels, relay panels, panel boards, space heaters, and related equipment.
• Perform assembly activities required for testing and final inspection.
• Bend and install power cables and leads.
• Fabricate pre-cable units, MTB and control panel harnesses, and power leads.
• Cut, form, install, and connect control wires, power wires, and cables.
• Make solder connections and hand-crimp connections as required.
• Install and mount components such as meters, relays, fuses, transformers, reactors, pull boxes, panel boards, and space heaters.
• Assemble and install bus work, including lug adapters, crossover bus, and splices.
• Make mechanical adjustments to ensure proper alignment and clearances.
• Modify standard assemblies and doors, including making required cutouts using hand or power tools.
• Make wiring changes and perform mechanical repairs, replacements, and modifications.
• Use established electrical testing procedures and equipment to verify wiring and electrical and mechanical integrity.
• Use testing equipment, including buzzers, to verify proper wiring connections.
• Read and interpret shop orders, technical drawings, wiring diagrams, inspection reports, and manufacturing instructions.
• Determine required components and materials and obtain parts from designated stock areas.
• Stage components and materials to support an efficient manufacturing workflow.
• Mark wires, devices, terminals, harnesses, and panels according to job and unit requirements.
• Apply component identification labels and maintain required production records.
• Operate floor-mounted overhead and jib cranes to move units, harnesses, device panels, and other materials.
• Maintain accurate piece counts and associated production records.
• Identify quality issues and report problems to the appropriate supervisor or quality personnel.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Follow applicable quality, environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in safety training, hazard identification, accident prevention, and continuous improvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Manufacturing or production experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, shop orders, and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to perform electrical and mechanical assembly.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to perform basic wiring, cable installation, crimping, and soldering.
• Ability to identify components, wiring, terminals, and assembly configurations.
• Ability to operate overhead and jib cranes or willingness to complete required training.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to maintain accurate production records.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to follow facility safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Ability to work effectively in a production environment and meet established quality and production requirements.
• High school diploma or GED.

Education

• High school diploma or GED.

Work Experience

• Manufacturing or production experience preferred.
